The timeless beautiful of flower fields for photography sessions

What better way to encapsulate a milestone moment than in a stunning and serene setting of a flower field? The natural beauty of these fields offers a perfect backdrop for creating memorable and timeless portraits. It is one of our favorites to photograph for portrait sessions.

Deciding on a location can feel overwhelming which is why during your consultation session we'll take the time to discuss the different options in Central PA and what fits best for you. We are always open to traveling if we cannot locate the exact location in the area. We'll talk through key points, time of year, and outfits to complement you in the location chosen. Bringing all these details together is so much fun!

Here are a few things to keep in mind as you choose a flower field location.

Choosing the ideal flower field

When thinking about the vast types of flowers there are many options. A few are tulips, lavender, sunflowers, cherry blossoms, wheat fields, and wildflowers, to mention a few. Each flower field will bring an emotion to the photos. For example, the calming feeling with a field of lavender or the cheerful and brightness of sunflowers that bring a feeling of joy.

Timing of the session

The time of day and season is important to consider when deciding on a location since it will have a significant impact on your photos. Thinking about the time of day for photos will bring a different light to your photos, early morning vs sunset. The season of the year will bring different colors to the fields, for example, the colors of spring vs the muted colors of fall. Don't count out the beauty of winter and the beauty of white snow. Consider the peak blooming time for the flowers that you're hoping for your photos.

Outfit Choices

Let's have fun!  Your welcome guide will include a style guide for you to start to think about outfit choices. Importantly, your photos are a reflection of your personality and style. When deciding on what to wear you'll want to choose an outfit that reflects you and complements the natural beauty of the flower field.

Things to consider are color coordination, comfort, style, shoes vs no shoes, and we cannot forget accessories.

A few other thoughts to consider is the addition of props for your session. Do you love to read? You can bring your favorite books and capture a picture of reading in the field of wheat. Maybe you paint and want to bring an easel and paints to capture your creativity.

Your pictures tell a beautiful story. With careful planning, thoughtful techniques, and a touch of creativity, we will create stunning portraits that celebrate you in a truly memorable way.

We've blogged about a few of our favorite flower field sessions! Enjoy!
